Although my realism is more about abstract form than narrative content. In paintings as much as in movies, living people involve the viewer in a way that geometric squares and circles cannot.  I embed round faces into square cityscapes.  Gridded cities, with their juxtapositions, insets, vanishing lines and eccentric points of view, contrast dramatically with human figures in ways that rounded nature can not.

I pursue a lustrous stateliness.  I seek to marry a frosty, authoritative line to a lush, tropical palette of color.  I alternate gleaming mosaic tiles and jewel inlays with large flat patterns and monochrome shapes. I do not pursue irony, cerebration or sentimentality.  Rather, I want to capture moments and make them shimmer.
